Stitch pattern for body: The body is worked in stocking stitch, with a cable up each front as follows:

Row 1: Work 4 sts, purl 1, work 6 sts, purl 1, work to last 12 sts, purl 1, work 6, purl 1, work 4.

Row 2: Work 4 sts, k 1, work 6 sts, k 1, work to last 12 sts, k 1, work 6, k 1, work 4.

Newborn: Inc 1 st each end every 6 rows 6 times to a total of  52 sts.

6 mths: Inc 1 st each end every 5 rows 8 times to a total of  58 sts. 

12 mths: Inc 1 st each end every 5 rows 8 times, then 1 st each end  every 4 rows once to a total of  60 sts.

clarifying pattern placement for sleeves in first 3 sizes

Newborn: work 1 st then start pattern, work 3 pattern repeats then work  1 st, continue to work in pattern. Inc 1 st each end every 5th row 10 x , you have 58 sts,  and have worked 50 rows from *, cast off loosely.

6 Months: work 2 sts then start pattern, work 3 pattern repeats then work  2 sts, continue to work in pattern. Inc 1 st each end every 5 rows 8 times, then 1 st each end every 4 rows 4 times, you have 64 sts,  and have worked 56 rows from *, cast off loosely.

12 Months: work 2 sts then start pattern, work 4 pattern repeats then work  2 sts, continue to work in pattern. Inc 1 st each end every 9th row twice, then 1 st each end every 8th row 6 times, you have 68 sts, and have worked 66 rows from*, cast off loosely.

Cast off (or place on holder) next 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7) sts,  work: 15( 15, 18, 18, 19, 20, 20, 21) sts, place next 12( 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14) sts on a holder  for back neck, turn, work 1 row

Cast off (or place on R shoulder holder) 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7) sts,  work: 4( 5, 6, 5, 5, 6, 5, 6) sts, place next 6(5, 7,7, 8, 8, 8, 8 ) sts on back neck holder , turn, work 1 row

Cast off  (or place on holder) 4 (5, 6, 5, 5, 6, 5, 6) sts at R armhole edge. Work other side to match—reversing shaping.

Join sts into a circle without twisting.

Neck shaping clarification:

Neck shaping:

Next row right side facing:

Work to 2nd marker

Knit 3 sts past marker, cast off centre 22(24, 26, 28, 28) sts, knit 3 sts to 3rd marker, continue in pattern as previously set to the end of row.

Shoulder shaping:

Continue on right front sts.

Work 3(3, 5, 7, 7) rows in pattern as set (3 sts garter at neck edge, stst to marker, garter st for sleeve)

Cast off for shoulder opening:

Right side facing, cast off 12 (13, 14, 15, 19) place markers to the side as you will need them again in a minute) work to end.

Cast on for shoulder:

Wrong side facing, keep stitch pattern correct, replace markers, work to end then cast on 12 (13, 14, 15, 19) sts as follows:

Turn the work so that the right hand needle is now in your left hand and vice versa, the yarn is now on the r of the l hand needle, use a cable cast on to create your sts, then turn the work around again so that you can continue with your row.

set up markers for yoke as before (3 sts at neck edge in garter st, the rest of the yoke sts in stst)

Work 4 (4, 6, 6, 8) rows, thus ending with a ws row. Cut yarn.

Place all sts on this side on a holder and work other side. 

Left front shoulder:

Ws facing, start at neck edge, work 4 rows, next row ws facing, cast off 12 sts at neck edge, work to end of row.

Next row RS facing, work to neck edge, cast on 12 sts as before. Work 4 rows in pattern.

should read:

Then inc 1 st each end every 0(0, 4th, 3rd) row 0 (0, 3, 6) times

Knit on hood:

you will be where the pattern says
Knit 0 (0, 31, 34) sts SSK, knit 2, k2tog, knit to end.

then insert this:
Work 1 row
Knit 0 (0, 30, 33) sts SSK, knit 2, k2tog, knit to end
Work 1 row
Right side facing
Knit straight for 4 (6, 6, 8) rows
Place ½ hood stitches on another needle – fold in half vertically- right sides together, join using 3 needle bind off.
Hood ribbing:
Using 3mm needles pick up and cast on 110 (114, 120, 126) sts at hood edge (face edge)"
then go back to the pattern:

Work 10 (12, 12, 14) rows 2 x 2 rib
and continue to read from pattern from there on
